Review:

White Burgundy as a house wine? Oh yeah! That's what I said the first time I tasted this little beauty from Macon-Vergisson. The nose alone is enough to enchant: Preserved lemons, roast chicken pan juices, and eclair custard. An elegant, creme brulee-like silkiness is complimented by balanced acidity. Only state this wine is imported into is Oregon.

This past weekend I tasted a plethora of wines from all over the world at the International Pinot Noir Celebration in McMinnville, Oregon. A fair amount of Burgundy producers attend each year and whenever I could, I snuck a glass or two of their whites. In this summer heat we are pulling bottles of white more often and there is something about a quality white Burgundy at a price that works for everyone... - Andy

The Chardonnay fruit for the "La Roche" grows on a 1.25 acre plot of land on the rock of Vergisson. On the border of Pouilly Fuisse, it is said to be Pouilly-Fuisse's "little brother". The winery recommends serving the La Roche with mixed salads, mussels, or goat cheese. They recommnd drinking now, with aging for up to five years.
