Review:
Now in the fourth vintage of this unique port-style Pinot noir, this version of Coupe's Cuvée is the deepest and richest yet (drawing on our broader vineyard sources), but still showing a finesse that is uncharacteristic of Port, but ultimately what makes this a Pinot noir first, and a dessert wine second. At 6% residual sugar, it is enough to balance with the acidity, but not so much as to overwhelm the expression of the fruit. Still very small in production, this is a wine we traditionally release in the fall, but because of its elegance, maintains its appeal throughout the year, pairing well with a broad range of desserts, or appealing on its own. - the winery
2010 Vintage Tasting Notes
2010 Tanzer - 91 points - Bright ruby. Intense, spice-accented aromas of dark berry preserves, cherry and candied rose. Deeply pitched red and dark berry flavors are sweet and expansive but surprisingly lithe, picking up subtle smokiness with air. The sweet, clinging finish leaves a spicy quality behind. - J.R.
The 2010 vintage is an elegant dessert wine made in the traditional port method. The half bottle size is perfect for sipping.
Wine Press Northwest (April 2012) - "This wine leads with aromas of raspberry fruit leather, woodruff, fresh mint and cigar leaf. Flavors turn slightly toward strawberry fruit leather, backed by Red Hots candy. It offers pleasing sweetness at 6% residual sugar, which is balanced by good acidity. Their suggested pairing with Dark Chocolate Hazelnut Toffee Bark is worth trying."
2009 Vintage Tasting Notes
2009 Tanzer - 92 points - Bright red. Perfumed bouquet evokes candied red berries, cherry pie and orange marmalade, with musky herb and spice notes adding complexity. Sweet and broad, with gently viscous red fruit preserve flavors. Wild stuff, offering an appealing blend of richness and energy; weighty but not thick. The sweet finish clings with very good sappy intensity. This would be superb with Oregon's Rogue Creamery Smokey Blue cheese, which is a must-try, by the way. - Josh Raynolds
