Seven of Hearts Pinot noir Willamette Valley 09
A nice blend that is soft and fruity with hints of herb and earthiness. Delicate yet complex at the same time. This 2009 Pinot Noir is a blend that incorporates the broad expression of five very distinct vineyards in the Eola-Amity Hills, Yamhill-Carlton District, and Dundee Hills.
2008 Vintage Tasting Notes
Good penetration and depth. Smoky tones along with botanical, pure earth/floral tones. Roses and peonies present. Creamy entry – more finesse and depth as it carries to finish. Lots of lift and cut on the fresh, penetrating finish. Firmly packed. Excellent stuffing.
Double Gold: 2008 Seven of Hearts Pinot Noir Eola-Amity Hills - Oregon Wine Awards
A celebration of the diverse soil types in the Eola-Amity Hills, this blend highlights the compatible characteristics of The Cost Vineyard in the southern portion of the AVA, a warmer site on volcanic soils, along with the cooler and darker notes of the Crawford Beck vineyard, a sedimentary site in the northern end of the AVA.
2007 Vintage Tasting Notes
A spicy, fruity Pinot noir, ready to drink and enjoy. In the nose, red raspberry and red pie cherry prevail. In the mouth, the red fruit flavors continue, with soft sweet pie spice and a hint of fresh turned earth.
The Seven of Hearts Pinot starts with a sense of sweet fruit, expands in the mouth to a balance of red fruit, spice, and gentle tannins, and finishes long and spicy.
Around the winery, this has become know as the "229", a graceful blend of the 114 clone from the Cost vineyard and the 115 clone from Crawford Beck, drawing on elements of both to deliver a wine that is very appealing right now. Gentility and finesse. Red berries, lots of delicacy on nose. Showing deep penetration. Ripeness is present and not overblown; classic pinot noir with racy acidity and a nice core of fruit to back it up. Vivid, luminous texture with a finish that has serious length.
