Review:
This well-built blue and black fruited beauty has highlights of mint and green tea on the nose to introduce a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. While certainly a "big" blend there's a spring in its step on the finish of fresh ground coffee and sarsaparilla. Drink it up. - Andy
The 2010 Mystique is an estate-grown blend of 50% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 20% Cabernet. The nose opens with rich sweet fruit of blackberries, raspberries, and a hint of dark cherry. At first taste you are struck by the rich creamy texture that is accompanied by lush fruit accents. It finishes with an intriguing array of exotic spices. Smooth and elegant, this wine displays an amazing sense of balance from beginning to end. Scott Greer, winemaker
2009 Wine Advocate - 91 points - The 2009 Mystique had been bottled 2 weeks before I tasted it. It is a slightly different blend being made up of 40% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc, and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon with a similar elevage. It is a rounder, plumper offering with more expressive aromatics. Both wines are meant for current consumption and should continue to provide pleasure for another 5-6 years. - Jay Miller

2007 Wine Advocate - 92 points - The 2007 Mystique, a blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cabernet Franc aged in 25% new French oak for 24 months. Purple/black in color, it delivers a nose of balsam wood, mineral, lavender, spice box, and intense black cherry, and black currant fruit. Medium to full-bodied, ripe, and structured on the palate, it has loads of fruit and spice, outstanding concentration, impeccable balance, and a lengthy, fruit-filled finish. It will evolve for several years and will deliver prime drinking from 2013 to 2022. It is an outstanding value. - Jay Miller
2006 Vintage Tasting Notes
2006 Wine Advocate - 91 points - The 2006 Mystique is a blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cabernet Franc aged for 26 months in seasoned French oak. Opaque purple/black colored, it offers up a brooding nose of damp earth, spice box, black cherry, and black currant. Layered on the palate, it is already revealing some complexity as well as plenty of depth and concentration. It will benefit from several years of additional cellaring and should provide pleasure through 2021. - Jay Miller
