Siduri is the Babylonian Goddess
of wine. In Babylonian mythology, Siduri held the wine of eternal life.
Siduri is also the realized goal of two wine
lovers - Dianna and Adam Lee. Sharing a passion for Pinot Noir, Dianna
and Adam produced a small quantity
of Pinot Noir from the 1994 vintage. This first wine met with great
critical success and led Siduri to search for additional high quality
Pinot Noir
grapes.
Siduri now produces Pinot Noir from vineyards
as far north as Oregon's Willamette Valley and, beginning in 2000,
as far south
as Santa Barbara
County's Santa Rita Hills. Their Oregon Pinot noirs have received
high scores and lots of praise from Pinot enthusiasts.
Siduri on
Winemaking
From the winery:
"We believe in minimal
interventionist winemaking. In other words, we believe in letting
the wine make itself. We do not want to do anything to the wine
unless it is absolutely
necessary. We believe in bottling our wines unfiltered and unfined.
To date, we have never filtered nor fined any wine. We believe
that, more
often than not, these procedures strip wines of flavor and character.
We believe that great Pinot Noir express its origins. Our goal
is not to produce
the world's greatest Pinot Noir-rather it is to produce the world's
greatest Van der Kamp Pinot Noir (for example). Everything we
do is an attempt to
make certain that the character of the vineyard shows through in the
wine.
