Review:
Sineann's Celilo Gewurztraminer is made from a famed Washington State vineyard known for its great white wine grapes. This wine shows the clean, slightly mineral quality Celilo is know for, plus the spicy, intensely floral notes that the varietal is known for. Very small amount made.
The Celilo Vineyard always produces a wine with great acidity and lovely white flower scents and flavors, with a distinct hit of white peach, citrus, and long, clean minerality in the finish. Peter's over-the-top style merges with a clean Alsacian type finish- the best of Old and New World combined. -Jean
Delicious by itself, but it is outstanding with sushi, halibut with a mango salsa and all sorts of curry dishes.
2010 Vintage
Stone fruit and floral on the nose - citrus and mineral on the palate. Beautifully balanced and layered.
The end of the Columbia Gorge is cool enough to preserve the aromatics, which are so essential to Gewerztraminer. The Celilo single-vineyard Gewerztraminer shows its cool weather roots with peachy stone fruit and zingy minerals and a tart finish. Celilo is a dry-farmed vineyard whose fruit reflects its almost sub-alpine location high above the Columbia River. This wine has decent depth yet is quite simple and straightforward in its approach.
2008 Vintage
Peter's Gewurztraminers have a cult following- they come and go each spring almost instantly. The 2008 vintage was much better for white fruit than the previous few vintages. Less extreme heat and long cool fall days allowed the fruit additional hang time, resulting in complexity and more expression of terroir than the hot vintages allowed.
