TASTING NOTES 2005 VINTAGE
This wine has great balance. A nice floral Gew?rztraminer nose carries a touch of tropical passion fruit and exotic spices. In the mouth, flavors of apple and pear with a seductive rose petal flavor that lingers on a light frame. There isn't much nuance here - just a total Gewurztraminer party, which in itself is pretty nice. Pair this wine with seared scallops with truffle oil or a squash soup flavored with curry powder. Your mouth will tingle. -ms
Peter's Oak Ridge Vineyard Gewurztraminer always balances intense, rich flavors with nice acidity and minerality. It sits between the Resonance (rich, intense, big) and the Celilo (Classical, Old World, floral) in its style.
Peter's Gewurztraminers have a cult following- they come and go each spring almost instantly. And the 2005 vintage offers two special features to make the wines even more collectable. First, the 2005 vintage was much better for white fruit than the previous few vintages. Less extreme heat and long cool fall days allowed the fruit additional hang time, resulting in complexity and more expression of terroir than the hot vintages allowed. Second, the prices have been reduced $3-5 a bottle for the three wines.
