Sineann Pinot Noir "Oregon" 08

Winery: Sineann

Sineann Pinot Noir "Oregon" Willamette Valley 08 -

LA Times, Thursday, December 16th:

If you're a serious Pinot Head, then you already know about Sineann, the small dedicated producer in Yamhill County, Ore. The single-vineyard bottlings are pricey -- and very, very good, but the plain Oregon bottling, made from a blend of grapes from some of those same highly regarded vineyards, is a rare bargain.

For less than $30, you can drink a Pinot that tastes as if it cost much more. Rich and round, the 2008 is an intense beauty with a strong cool-climate Oregon character. It has elegance and grace and is a wonderful match for pretty much any food you want to put in front of it.

I like it with a fish in red wine sauce, a classic quiche Lorraine or chicken pot pie and, of course, a rotisserie duck or chicken. -- S. Irene Virbila Very impressive and the best value of the bunch. Rich aromas of black cherries, rose petals and cola spice gave way to a lovely array of mixed cherries and herbs. This first of Sineann 08 Pinots we tasted had us saying, um..so this is just the Oregon? Avalon

Peter's one blended Pinot noir (made from several different vineyards' fruit). Peter's most approachable, ready to drink Pinot in every vintage.

The 2007 Sineann "Oregon" Pinot noir has fresh flavors of berry fruit with a spicy hint of cinnamon. This is Peter's most approachable, ready to drink Pinot noir.

Scents are of fresh blackberry and raspberry, with enticing spicy hints of toasty cinnamon and strawberry candy.

Flavors are a wow! Sweet and spicy red and black raspberry, blackberry and red cherry mingle with spicy sweet & buttery cinnamon notes. While present, acids and tannins take a back seat to the sweet fruit flavors of this easy to love wine.

As the Sineann Oregon Pinot noir opens in the glass with exposure to air, more layers of appealing sweet black cherry, black plum, and black currant mingle with the dominant raspberry flavors. Fruit flavors linger after swallowing and light hints of toasty oak tannins make the finish soft and subtle.

This is an ideal wine to offer to friends who want to try Oregon Pinot noir. Its sweet spicy fruit flavors and light acidity and tannins appeal to wine neophytes and Pinot experts alike. -avalon

From the winery: "A stunning blend of our best vineyards. When first assembled, the wine shocked us with its depth and complexity. The finish of this wine is very, very long and deep." -- Peter

The Oregon blend contains a bit of fruit from Schwab, Lachini, Resonance, Able and Schindler vineyards, hence vineyard distinctiveness gives way to a house style this is aromatic with depth and complexity and a long finish. For many, the Oregon blend is their favorite most approachable of Sineann's Pinot noir.
