Review: April 2013 release. Sadly, this is our last vintage of Syrah. Discontinuing this wine was an extremely difficult decision. But it was necessary to make room for a couple more exciting new wines from great new vineyard sources. This vintage is again 100% Syrah from the Lewis and Riverbend vineyard aged in once-used French oak barrels to highlight the deliciously pure varietal flavors. - the winery 2008 Vintage Tasting Notes 100% Syrah and aged entirely in once-used French oak barrels. We sourced from the same outstanding vineyards: Boushey, Lewis and Riverbend (source of the Fielding Hills wines), and it is again made in a racy style with good acidity that pairs well with many different foods. - the winery 2007 Vintage Tasting Notes This is a new wine and is 100% Syrah to show off the varietal character of this grape that we sourced from the Boushey, Lewis and Riverbend (source of Fielding Hills' wines) vineyards. It is made in a racy, rather than the more common ultra-ripe, style and is distinguished by the nice balance of fruit, tannin, acid and oak. The whimsical name was coined as a term of endearment by Cecile to describe her winemaker-husband during the busy fall winemaking season. It is probably the most versatile wine we produce because the flavors and level of acidity make it pair well with so many foods. - the winery |
