2008 Wine Spectator - 93 points - This has density without excess weight, showing a real depth to its cherry, cinnamon, almond and cedar flavors, lingering against crisp tannins. Impressive for its deft balance and the way the finish sneaks up on you. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Best from 2013 through 2016. - H.S.

The nose is extremely refined and complex with scents of bright currant, clove, licorice, wheat, cigar box, almond paste, and orange extract. 2006 Wine Spectator - 93 points - Smooth and focused, with a cigar box character to make the ripe blackberry and currant fruit more interesting, finishing with polished tannins. 2004 Wine Spectator - 93 points - Lithe, refined and deftly balanced to show off its smoky blueberry compote and cherry flavors, which last on the long, expressive finish.
