Terra Blanca Syrah Block 8 01
From the winery: "Hints of leather and orange essence rise from the glass. Dark plum, fig, and cedar spice leave a deep impression on the palate. Floral and orange notes float over a velvet finish."

MORE INFORMATION
2001 Terra Blanca Syrah - Block 8, combines the grace and power of Red Mountain, Washington State's newest appellation, while preserving its Chateauneuf du Pape heritage.
VINEYARD
The long warm growing season in 2001, coupled with defi cit irrigation practices, provided additional stress on the vines to keep the berry size tiny, resulting in intense depth and structure in the fruit. The long warm days and cool nights, typical in the Red Mountain Appellation, combined with calcium carbonate rich soils to produce intense black fruit. Low crop levels of less than two tons per acre produce intense, concentrated fruit with ripe flavors and dark colors.
WINEMAKING
Fermentation in open vats using a variety of yeast types adds subtle complexities. Fifteen months maturation in oak barrels concentrates, refines and polishes the wine. Selected barrels from Block 8 Syrah at our Terra Blanca Estate vineyard were blended with 2% Viognier and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
