Review: 2010 vintage releases in June. The Thomas Gerrie Pinot noir is a fantastic "insider" Pinot deal. With its pedigree (Cristom) and price ($24!), and most importantly its tastiness, we recommend it by the case without reservation. Seriously, we're going to keep the flowery prose short and say that this red cherry and baking spice-packed Oregon Pinot is the steal of the season, if not the year. Second Generation Cristom Paul Gerrie, owner of Oregon winery Cristom Wines, derived the winery name from those of daughter Christine, and son Tom. Now Tom is making wine under his own name, Thomas Gerrie Wines. below, Tom Gerrie
What's behind the new Thomas Gerrie Pinot noir 09? Tom works alongside Cristom's revered winemaker, Steve Doerner. Thomas Gerrie Pinot noir was made at Cristom in a similar style as their Estate wines, meaning it emphasizes balance, intrigue, and seamlessness. Tom describes his childhood as the son of an Oregon winery owner: "In many ways, Cristom and I have grown up together. When Cristom crushed its first fruit I was only eight years old. I can still remember tying baby vines to bamboo rods in our newly planted vineyards." |
