"With admirable complexity accenting impressively intense fruit, this is a standout wine. Black fruit flavors predominate, with toasty, spicy oak notes serving very nicely in a supporting role."

90/90-Wine Lover's Page by Randy Buckner, January 2005
"Almost black in the glass, the wine displays lovely boysenberry, blueberry, spice and chocolate aromas and flavors. Medium to full bodied with lovely balance, the wine is not overstated. Tannins sneak up on the finish and dictate a few years of bottle aging."

Outstanding-Wine Press Northwest, Summer 2005
"Holly Turner does a berry, berry good job with luscious and food-friendly Rhone release. Blueberries, menthol, sweet cherry pipe tobacco, milk chocolate and tomato paste with basil seep out of the glass. A tip of the glass yields ripe blackberries and boysenberries, showcased by adroit barrel and tannin management, then followed by bittersweet chocolate and licorice on the finish. Good acidity also lends the wine to plates of lamb, duck, sweetbreads and a slice of chocolate cake."

91-Wine & Spirits, October 2004
"The blacker side of syrah, with spicy fruit blackened by the heavy toast feel of the oak. It's big, dense, tannic and unformed, until the end, when suddenly all of that structure informs a glorious, black-as-night finish, confirming its youth and potential, and suggesting a long life ahead."
