720 Cellars Willamette Valley 2005 $24.95 Quercus Scents of raspberries and spicy wild roses rise from the glass, introducing intense, rounded, sweet raspberry, blackberry, and black currant fruit. Hints of graham, vanilla, and sweet cherry hard candy enhance the rich flavors. The finish is long, with lots more berry and a touch of cocoa. Lovely balance and totally integrated, silky tannins complete the wine. We are very very sad that this is Michael's final vintage. We've tasted lots of 2006 and 2007 Oregon Pinots recently (it's release season) and Michael's final Harmonia Pinot noir beats many of them - even those well over $30 a bottle. Belle Vallee This wine starts with spicy white pepper and violets on the nose, with some brown sugar and blueberry coming out with time. Black cherry, blackberry, and blueberry streaks lead you towards lovely, mildly spicy oak tannins. The white pepper and tannins provide beautiful bookends to a delicately-bodied wine. Outstanding value! Heady aromas of blueberry, pepper and violets followed by a tight black cherry, black raspberry and spice center. Territorial Winery & Vineyard James Beard Award-winning restaurant Marche, in Eugene, Oregon, serves this wine by the glass--and they have a lot of Oregon Pinot to choose from! This youthfully exuberant pinot arouses the senses with aromas of earth, spice and sweet cherry followed by an integrated mid-palate showing classic pinot flavors of cherry, briar, toast and cola. Deliciously juicy black berry and black cherry dressed with dusky cinnamon spice. Blue berry and anise flourishes appear near the finish, then more black cherry lingers on. The 720 Pinot has the balance we look for in value Pinot: super-easy to get into now, great with food, ageable for years.
