Va Piano "Bruno's Blend" IV

Winery: Va Piano

Brand new release November 2008.

Previous vintage tasting notes: Third release named for Father Bruno, this release is 66% Syrah, 20% Cabernet & 14% Merlot. Bruno's Blend III is a lively, ready to drink blend of black fruit flavors, with hints of barrel spice and soft velvety tannins. Flavors are dominated by intense Italian plum, ripe black cherry, and soft pepper notes. Drink within two years, it's a crowd pleaser. Food pairings This is a fun wine for a dinner party (particularly for anyone who went to Gonzaga)and pairs well with hearty winter dishes like lamb chops. I had this last night with a cozy beef stew enhanced with parsnips and carrots to match the sweet fruit notes in the wine.

MORE INFORMATION

TASTING NOTES, BRUNOS BLEND #1 The first Bruno's Blend is a full bodied red, packed with intense flavors of black fruits such as blueberry, blackberry and plum. Despite its youth this wine is showing well, if you can wait six months you will be amazed. Pair well with beef stew, lamb dish, tenderloin or even a cheeseburger.

Bruno's Blend is a non-vintage red wine. Each Blend will showcase a different piece of art by Bruno Segatta (Florence, Italy) Portion of the proceeds from the sale of this wine will go to Bruno's outreach from Africa to Italy by donating money to orphanages and families with special needs.

Justin Wylie, owner of Va Piano Vineyards, wanted to create a unique red wine at a reasonable price point and promote Bruno's artwork at the same time.

Bruno's Blend will be different with each release. This first release is composed of 74% Syrah, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon & 9% Merlot, harvested from Piano Vineyard Estate, Cold Creek & Seven Hills Vineyards.
