"Baby Leonetti" says Seattle Times' Paul Gregutt: "built upon fruit from 30-plus-year-old vines. It's a classic Bordeaux blend, showing cassis, berry and cherry fruits dotted with dried herb. Delicious already, this wine successfully combines raw power with depth and character." - 11-27-07

"...Sagemoor Cabernet Sauvignon has become our 'signature' Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a classy wine that is age worthy and will bring a lot of pleasure to the collector who loves to cellar magnificent Cabernets. This is a new world blend but when you taste it blind, you will think that it was a Grande Cru from the left bank of Bordeaux, France. Do not miss pairing this wine with one of France's great savory lamb dishes..."

Sagemoor Vineyard has become one of our very favorite vineyards. This powerful and intense wine contains 76% old vine Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc. It has a dark tooth-staining blackberry hue and layers of flavors that grab and hold on to your palate. This expressive, plump wine will have a long life, so it can be enjoyed over the next ten years. This beautifully balanced wine contains jam-packed flavors of Marion berry, blueberry, dark ox heart cherries and Fran's Chocolate Sauce. The echoing finish is pure and focused.

A food pairing with this flavorful wine is roasted rack of lamb coated with toasted, buttered breadcrumbs with thyme and Maille Dijon Mustard, cheesy twice-baked russet potatoes and roasted asparagus.

Previous 03 Vintage:

Wine Spectator 89 points:

"Spicy, velvety style has a green olive note weaving through the ripe cherry and pepper flavors, finishing with impressive generosity. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2010. 448 cases made." --(HS)

Marcus (Avalon) says: "A very inviting red wine from the start: dark plum, coffee and tobacco leaf aromas that carry through to the palate. Layered fruit--plum, cassis, and hints of dark drid cherries. A touch of sweet and spicy cedar complements the dark cocoa on the penetrating finish. The Sagemoor has a wonderful balance of acidity and tannins to reward cellaring over the next 4-6 years. Or, grab a prime steak and fire up the grill--it's spring, after all!"

Varietal Comp: 89% Cab, 6% Franc, 5% Merlot.

Aged 20 months in oak. Produced from grapes grown at Champoux, WWC Estate, Canoe Ridge, Klipsun, Sagemoor, Tapteil and Pepper Bridge Vineyards.

Detailed Info, Previous Vintage Notes, Reviews:

From the winery: "This wine has a beautiful nose of spicy oak and cedar with ripe black fruits and cherry. A firm, rich mouth feel begins with cassis and black berry, leading towards chocolate and mocha. The is generous and long. While this wine can be enjoyed now, it will definitely benefit from additional cellaring and, with proper storage, should develop for eight years or more."
