Review:

A Pinot from an old block of a vineyard with intense and easily identifiable character. Holstein is known for a distinctive clay soil that creates wines with bright red fruit and spice flavors. The Walter Scott Holstein is a prime example of its features.

The 2011 Holstein is a co-fermented blend of Dijon 667 and 777 clones from the older blocks on the Vineyard. Situated in the heart of the Dundee Hills, this vineyard is planted on the Volcanic Soil the region is famous for. The Holstein shows the classic red fruit and spice characters often associated with this cooler, clay based soil. - Ken & Erica

2009 Vintage Tasting Notes

Holstein Vineyard in the Dundee Hills is best known as the source for several highly regarded Pinot noirs from Argyle. Ken purchased enough grapes for two barrels of his Holstein Vineyard Pinot.
