Whistling Dog NSV Pinot noir 07

Whistling Dog NSV Pinot noir 07 -

Whistling Dog Nuestro Sueno Vineyard Pinot noir 07 - An outstanding value. A surprisingly dark profile of black cherries and dark sweet berries mixes with a complement of barrel spice. Nice concentration and a long finish of spicy-sweet berry bramble make for complete Pinot. Extra time in barrel (18 months) and bottle allowed for excellent integration.

NSV is short for Nuestro Sueno Vineyard, which is Tom and Celeste Symonette's site in the Eola-Amity Hills. Planted in the early 1980's, it produces wines with character and depth.

2006 Vintage Tasting Notes

A brilliant new find! Bright aromas of red berries, black cherries, thyme, and earth lead into a juicy, seamlessly layered core of raspberry with darker black currant background notes, all laced with a sweet cinnamon spice. Still a puppy, the vibrant acidity calls for a meal but the juiciness will bring you back for another glass.

Tom and Celeste Symonette make Whistling Dog wines at St. Innocent Winery using coveted Anden Vineyard fruit. With Anden fruit disappearing, their estate vineyard, Nuestro Sueno, will make up a bigger component of the future Whistling Dog portfolio.
