An outstanding value. Forward and expressive, this is packed with rich cherry and dark berry flavors, accented by cinnamon and nicely integrated barrel spice. A combo of 18 months aging before bottling and the robust 2009 vintage means it's ready for your glass. Most wineries, rightfully, ask big bucks for their old vine Pinots. Not Whistling Dog! This tiny 4-barrel lot comes from their dry-farmed, 30 year-old block of Heritage clones (Pommard and Wadenswil). One of the very few sub-$30 Pinots selected for our Reserve Pinot Noir Wine Club.

The 2009 NSV Estate Heritage Blocks Pinot was produced from own-rooted, dry-farmed Pommard and Wadenswil clones planted in 1981; the wine was made using 100% whole berry grapes, native yeasts, and minimalist winemaking techniques. Aged nineteen months in barrel, using 50% new oak; 17 months in bottle upon release.

Whistling Dog Cellars is owned by Celeste and Cedar Rapids native Tom Symonette and was founded in 1988. Tom was formerly assistant winemaker at St. Innocent Winery.

Nuestro Sueño Vineyard is Whistling Dog’s estate vineyard, located on the southwestern slopes of the Eola Hills in Oregon's Willamette Valley. Planted in the 1980‘s, it is one of the original vineyards planted in the AVA, and is dry-farmed using sustainable farming practices.

Flavors include cherry, blueberry, and plum fruit flavors with hints of tobacco, incense cedar, leather and cinnamon. The mouthfeel is smooth and round, the finish is lengthy and pleasing. Only 94 cases produced.
