2003 Vintage Tasting Notes
Tasting note- January, 2006 -- Scents of red cherry, red raspberry, and a hint of barnyard, with really nice texture in the mouth. Flavors are of sweet fruit with red pie cherry, red raspberry, and a hint of cranberry fruit. There's a lovely, lively acidity, hints of spice mingling with the raspberry notes, and lots of perfumed rose petal in both nose and flavors. The finish is of classic candied rose petal, floral, rosewater notes with a hint of cardamon. The wine is still showing as young and vibrant, with an unusual, nice clean acidity that will allow aging, even in a hot vintage. Perhaps a tad more integrated than last summer, it's drinking quite well but will benefit from aging for 1-5 years. -jy
Tasting note - June, 2005 -- The Quiotee's Lair 03 shows a big, structured backbone of silky tannins that support fruit flavors of marionberry and cassis, intermingled with intense spices including cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg. The wine expresses a lot of terroir- it has a strong sense of place, with hints of fresh turned earth, minerals, and herbs. This is a wine producer to watch. - jy
