Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 90 points
The 2007 Chardonnay was sourced from the Carabella and Hyland Vineyards. Most of the wine was aged in barrel (87% with 13% new) and the balance in stainless steel. Medium straw-colored, it offers up an excellent nose of baking spices, mineral, apple, poached pear, and a hint of pineapple. Mouth-filling on the palate with vibrant natural acidity, it has superb depth and concentration, a creamy texture, and a lengthy, pure finish. It may well evolve for 1-2 years and can be enjoyed through 2015. - Jay Miller
"Winderlea Vineyard and Winery is owned by Donna Morris and Bill Sweat who purchased the former Goldschmidt Vineyard in 2006. Now known as the Winderlea Vineyard, it was originally planted in 1972 with the oldest remaining blocks dating from 1974. The owners are moving toward biodynamic farming."
From the winery -
Our inaugural Chardonnay was sourced from the Carabella Vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains and the Hyland Vineyard in McMinnville. All of the fruit was carefully double sorted and then 87% barrel fermented and 13% fermented in stainless steel. The wine was left on its lees for 6 months and barrel aged in French oak barrels (13% new) for 10 months. The wine has a mineral component with excellent acid and structure. It has a core of crisp apple and ripe stone fruit with a minimum of 5-10 years. 345 cases produced.
