Winemaker Notes ~ The 2000 Maghie is 90% Merlot and 100% Red Mountain. Maghie was aged in a selection of new and older French barrels. The Merlot grapes come from an excellent
site that slopes south southwest gaining just that extra bit of perfect light during the final ripening of the grape clusters. Leaf and cluster thinning are employed during the spring and summer to insure optimal air and sun exposure. The perfect site and extra attention to detail to the care of these grapes gave us a great merlot to work with. Our judicious use of blending was used to frame this magnificent grape and show off its splendor. This is Red Mountain merlot at its glorious best. This is Maghie!
