Woodinville Wine Cellars OMO 08

OMO, the acronym for Odd Man Out, is a blend of Petit Verdot and Malbec.

"The 2008 OMO comes from a cooler vintage and it brought out the wonderful balance and giant fruit flavors of the blend. I wanted to explore the Ying and Yang of the two wines, the Petit Verdot (the Ying) a spicy, racy wine and the Malbec Yang - the "big carry" red." - Sean Boyd, the winemaker

Sean refers to his "eclectic" mix as a blend of Jazz (the Petit Verdot) and Rock and Roll (the Malbec).

The Petit Verdot (67%) offers scents of red licorice and candied apples. The Malbec adds smoothness and complexity. Flavors of wild berry and blackberry emerge from this plush, deeply concentrated wine. It will cellar well for the next 3 to 5 years if you can stand to wait that long.
