Woodward Canyon WA State Chardonnay 2010

This wine is a complex mix of mature fruit flavors including ripe pear, apple and peach with wonderful acidity. Whole cluster pressing produced a wine with notes of vanilla, spice and toasted hazelnut.

Approachable now, this wine will be even better after another year and with proper cellaring should continue to improve for several years.

2008 Vintage Tasting Notes

Beautifully mature flavors of ripe pear, apple, and peach marry perfectly with crisp acidity. Whole cluster pressing gives delineated fruit which integrates beautifully with notes of vanilla, cream and toasted hazelnut. Finally, the oak is understated by our choice and is in wonderful proportion with the alcohol, fruit and acidity.

Lauded as one of the best Washington Chardonnays ever made, Woodward Canyon's Chardonnay rated 96 points from Wine Enthusiast and #4 in their Top 100 Washington Wines list.

For years Rick Small made a tiny amount of Chardonnay under the Woodward Canyon label. Most of his Chardonnay was sold at the winery, and Walla Walla friends and relatives knew to grab it up. Woodward Canyon is held in great esteem in Walla Walla, as well as across the state of Washington and the entire country. Rick's Chardonnay is as special as the rest of his wines, and we are delighted to be able to offer this wine to you.

Made from some of the oldest vines in the Celilo Vineyard and from vines planted at Woodward Canyon in 1976, Paul Gregutt describes this wine: "this stunning effort may well be the best Chardonnay ever produced in Washington."

2007 Vintage Tasting Notes

Woodward Canyon Washington State Chardonnay 2007 - Fully mature fruit shows in the mouth; the texture is smooth and silky. The finish is complex, generous and long. This wine may be consumed now but it will benefit substantially with a year in bottle and will continue to improve for another several years. Pacific northwest seafood is the reason we make this wine. Enjoy!
