Woodward Canyon Dolcetto 08

Dolcetto is always our first red wine of the vintage to be released. This wine was fermented in small stainless steel tanks and was punched down twice a day. After pressing, the wine was transferred to our oldest 500 liter Gamba puncheons to complete primary fermentation. Malo-lactic fermentation was not allowed in a very cold cellar. In late March, after nearly five months of aging, the wine was racked from barrel and bottled in the later part of May, 2009. This wine has a beautiful dark garnet color and a lovely fruit-forward nose of mature red fruits and Walla Walla River blackberries. Flavors of cherry, blackberry and spice carry through in the mouth as well. The finish is long, generous and extremely well balanced. This wine is produced with summer lunches in mind and should be served cool. Enjoy! the winery
