MORE INFORMATIONZerba CellarsAfter 25 years of farming and nursery success in the Walla Walla Valley, Cecil and Marilyn Zerba founded Winesap Vineyards in 2001 to grow quality wine grapes through sustainable viticulture. Recognizing that quality fruit is the foundation for great wine, Cecil and Marilyn carefully selected vineyard sites to take advantage of the best of the Walla Walla Valley’s diverse soil types and elevations. Winesap Vineyard was planted in 2001 in the fl oating river-rock region of the valley known for its syrah. The Foundation Block vineyard surrounds Zerba's tasting room and contains 14 varietals. Cockburn Hills Vineyard, first planted in 2004, is located in the foothills overlooking the Walla Walla Valley. In 2002, Cecil and Marilyn teamed up with Mark Retz, a family friend whose expertise in national and international wine marketing made him a natural fit. Together, Cecil, Marilyn and Mark founded Zerba Cellars. Major varieties include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. The varieties planted in the Foundation Block include Cabernet Franc, Sangiovese, Petit Syrah, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Tempranillo, Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, Barbera, Mourvedre, Viogner, Chardonnay, Semillon and Roussanne. |
