Adea Winery

Dean Fisher is winemaker and owner of Adea Winery with wife Anne. They're pioneers of winemaking in the Ribbon Ridge area, and have been friends with the owners of Beaux Freres, Hamacher, and Medici Wineries since before they were even founded.

Adea Winery

Dean was introduced to the Oregon wine industry through his fabricating and truck equipment business. He began building various winery equipment such as hopper, hand rails, modifying sorting lines, etc. for Chateau Benoit and the Ponzi Vineyards. And, as you can imagine, when you work at "the winery" you taste the vintages. Pinot Noir became Dean's-and Ann's- grape of preference, and the die was cast.

In 1990, Dean got together with his good friend Michael Etzel (Beaux Freres), and put some fruit into barrels. He also planted approximately one acre of Pinot Noir. The vineyard was pretty landscaping and kept the allergy grasses to a minimum.

Tasting these first barrels got Dean excited to try again in 1991. Michael went on to establish Beaux Freres Winery. The Fishers joined forces with Eric Hamacher and Hal and Dottie Medici to establish the Medici Winery in 1995. Dean built a fruit processing line for Beaux Freres and another for Medici Vineyards. Since then, additional lines have been built, and Dean is finally building one for ADEA, for use in an upcoming facility.

As Fisher Family Cellars, Dean and family produced several vintages of beautiful Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. In 1998 they were notified that we could not use the Fisher Family Cellars label as the name conflicted with another earlier-established vineyard and winery.

Never ones to be discouraged, they decided to re-invent themselves with a new name and label: ADEA (Ann, Dean, Erica and Adam). While the name may have changed, the Fisher Family (of Oregon) hasn't. Behind the label, the Fisher Family continues to strive to make Oregon's tastiest premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. In 1998, a small amount of Pinot Gris was added to the mix, was well accepted, and was subsequently included in most vintages on a larger scale.

In recent years, fruit has been obtained from the following family-run vineyards: Momtazi, Durant, Whistling Ridge Vineyard, Coleman Vineyard, Yamhill Valley Vineyards, Shea Vineyards and Anderson Vineyards in the Willamette Valley, as well as their small acre in Gaston. (They planted another acre during the 2000 summer and are busy keeping it going in a race with their friendly deer).
