2008 Wine Advocate - 92+ points - The 2008 Camerata Cara Mia Vineyard is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc, with the balance Petit Verdot and Merlot. It offers an expressive nose, a lean, elegant, Bordeaux-like personality, several years of aging potential, and a lengthy finish. Drink it from 2013 to 2023. - Jay Miller

The winery name, Cadence, represents many factors in the winemakers' lives. Both Gaye McNutt and Ben Smith played classical music on violin and piano and support the Seattle Symphony. But music cadence is only a part of the rhythm of their lives. In addition, Smith is a cyclist and McNutt a tri-athlete. Cadence is the number of pedal revolutions in cycling.

It just seem to fit, Smith said. Its about balance in the wines in life.

"The 2007 Camerata Cara Mia Vineyard is made up of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon with the balance equal parts Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot aged for 18 months in 50% new French oak. Aromas of crushed rock, toasty oak, Asian spices, incense, black currant, and blackberry are followed by a wine with excellent grip and volume, layers of fruit, and several years of aging potential. Give it 4-5 years of additional cellaring and drink it from 2014 to 2027."

85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% each Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot.

Briary deep cherry fruit and baking spice; classic cabernet nose! This will take time to unfold, there is huge deep fruit, an expansive mouthfeel but in a monolithic package. The tannins wrap through the spicy finish (I guess I really like our tannin management!) and promise to allow Camerata to develop for a long time. - the winery

Cadence Camerata Cara Mia Vineyard Red Mountain 06 received 91 points from Wine Spectator: "Firm in texture, with lots of violet and lavender overtones to the blackberry flavors, lingering against hints of tobacco and earth. Complex and interesting, but needs time to soften. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2011 through 2016. - H.S.

94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc. This is the very first time weve blended a full scale project (as opposed to a barrel or two) of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon. The Cab simply did not need Merlot or Petit Verdot in the blend those barrels quickly diminished the power and focus of the blend. One barrel of low yield (one ton per acre) Cabernet Franc made the cut and provided a subtle expansion in profile. The aromas are classic Cabernet savory, brambly red and black fruit, spice, and dust. The flavors show more of the same, but the hook is set by incredible energy that builds through the finish. The core of red fruit just keeps expanding on the palate and is complimented by powerful fine tannins on a long dusty finish. - the winery
