Argyle Chardonnay Willamette Valley 07 -

From the winery - If you are tired of tropical, fat Chardonnays, then this is the wine for you! The aromas are a wonderful high-toned honeysuckle blossom, citrus flower, star fruit mix with complex spices of vanilla and white pepper adding depth and a sense of minerality. When a wine has minerality in its structure, its likely to get nice and creamy in texture with food. This Chardonnay displays minerality, yet retains a juicy centered texture. Flavors of limeade, lemon grass, and a chilled apple crisp appear front, center and throughout the long finish.

From the winery: "Some of the most exciting wines we make come from the vintages we harvest toward the end of a rainless October! This wine is one of the best examples of late harvested; fruit-structured, and long aging Chardonnay. The color is a youthful green straw. The aroma is a concentrated mix of green olive (extra, extra virgin), pear, and roasted hazelnut and spice (cumin and white pepper). The flavor is very sweet, only this wine has no sugar! Ripe fruit like pear and white peach, ripe melon center, and a very long roasted hazelnut with pear fruit finish make this a great wine on its own, but will be extra special with the right food (chopped salad, grilled scallops, or my favorite extra buttery mashed potatoes). This wine's creamy texture is supported by a firm late harvested structure, making this a wine for aging."
