Review:
2011 may just be greatest vintage of Bergstrom Chardonnays. Old Stones, a blend of Bergstrom's best Chardonnay vineyards, is a classically styled Chardonnay with elegance, poise and depth that melds old world style and new world flair to create a lush, rich wine. Aromas of lime blossom, lemon pastry and sweet baking spices are followed by sweet and succulent flavors of lemon, lime and tangerine.
2010 Vintage Tasting Notes
Looking for a Chardonnay to impress your friends and please all of their tastes? Old Stones is it. Ripe citrus and pear is fat and lush without the clunkiness of oak. The name is fitting - notes of wet stone pervade the wine and combined with good acidity, make for a well-balanced, year-round Chardonnay. Recommended for winter dishes like seared scallops, crab risotto, and roasted chicken. - Marcus
2008 Vintage Tasting Notes
San Francisco Chronicle: Josh Bergstrom's way with Pinot is well known to us, but his Chardonnay is a more recent happening. This second vintage of Old Stones is a dazzler, serving up a lot of nuance for the price. It's a slightly flashy style, sure, but it also hits on all cylinders, starting with a subtle oak presence on the nose, accented by heather and vanilla bean scents. The flavors have a certain integrity to them; they hold together just so, marked by a beautiful mango and yuzu bite, and mineral edge and integrity.
Portland Monthly Magazine recently listed this wine as the 2nd best value wine for Oregon! "One of the best chardonnays ever made in Oregon, this is truly a top value. Quite long, intense pear flavors, with a judicious use of oak barrels."
