Bookwalter Cabernet Sauvignon 04

Winery: Bookwalter

From the winery: "Like all of our red wines, our 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon is aged exclusively in hand selected, small French oak barrels that are meticulously chosen for their richness and suitability for a particular variety of wine. Our 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon blend was aged for 20 months in mostly Taransaud and Sylvain barrels that beautifully framed in and lifted the fruit and earthiness from this vintage. The final blend displays bright cherry, black currants, graphite, cedar and cigar box aromas."

From the winery: "Our second complete vine to wine Cabernet under Zelma Long's guidance is about exciting as it gets for Cabernet Sauvignon from Washington. Aged exclusively in French oak for 22 months and blended with 10% Merlot, this opulently rich and silky Cabernet tempts the palate with concentrated flavors of plum, blackberry, cassis and sweet cedar followed by a smooth, lingering finish. Optimal drinkability 2006 - 2012."

he 2001 vintage offered extraordinary growing conditions throughout the entire season. Warm, dry days coupled with cool nights during the summer followed by our fourth consecutive Indian summer allowed for extended hang time and symmetrical ripening of the fruit. The wines from this vintage are filled with big, opulent fruit, accentuated by high pH's that allow for early drinkability and enjoyment.

The vineyard sources for this wine are located in the Columbia Valley and Red Mountain appellations. 58% Conner-Lee, 14% Estate, 13% Ciel du Cheval, 11% Bacchus and 4% Wahluke Slope.
