Review:
The Canoe Ridge Estate Cab is a beautifully balanced wine that offers a classic, fresh expression of Horse Heaven Hills fruit. The wine offers black current flavors, hints of sage and elegant tannins. The cooler vintage in 2010 led to an enhanced “Old World” restrained elegant character. I love this wine with just about any food! - the winery
2009 Tanzer - 92 points - Saturated medium ruby. Brooding aromas of cassis, mocha, mint, licorice and minerals. Suave on entry, then seamless in the mid-palate, with sexy flavors of blackberry, licorice and menthol lifted by a violet quality and complemented by oak. Shows a lighter touch than the Cold Creek cabernet and finishes plush and long, with very suave tannins. This should age well but is already quite sexy.
Ripe black fruit, toasty oak and allspice flavors follow pleasant earthy aromas of juniper berries and cassis.
Aromas of ripe black cherry and blackberry are accented by
hints of leather and cedar. On the palate this Cabernet delivers cherry and chocolate flavors with round, soft tannins.
