Columbia Crest Walter Clore Col Valley

Columbia Crest Walter Clore Col Valley -

A special wine made in honor of wine pioneer Walter Clore.

Wine Spectator says: "Firm in texture, but remarkably graceful and harmonious, on the lighter side for a Cabernet-based wine, offering peppery blackberry and currant flavors that persist impressively on the graceful finish. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Drink now through 2010. 3,000 cases made. (HS)

The Walter Clore Private Reserve was picked from Columbia Crest's premier vineyard sites in 2000. Vineyards are located on the Wahluke Slope (50%), offering aromatics, texture and complexity and on the Columbia River Basin (50%), introducing texture and body.

From the winemaker: "This wine offers a Bordeaux-style nose full of blueberry, blackberry, earth and cocoa. The palate features a fruit-oak balance and a long, seductive chocolate-blueberry finish."

The wine is a blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon and 42% Merlot. Superb with rack of lamb or prime rib.
