Cristom Pinot Noir Mt. Jefferson Cuvee 2013

$27.95 Regular

in any 12 bottle order or Build a Case

Classically-styled Oregon Pinot featuring sappy red and black fruits, elegant and powerful, with lovely cinnamon and thyme accents. The finish is nicely structured with uplifting acidity and fine tannin. Drinks well today and could cellar for 2-4 years.

Ask just about any Oregon wine industry veteran which winemakers they respect most and you'll hear Cristom's Steve Doerner mentioned. Doerner crafts some of the most exquisite, age-worthy Pinot noirs in the New World. Mt. Jefferson is a blend of estate-grown fruit plus carefully selected purchased fruit.

Previous vintage notes:

2009 Wine Advocate - 90 points - On the palate it displays medium body, sweet fruit, plenty of spice and enough ripe tannin to evolve for 1-2 years. However, it can be approached now and over the next 6-8 years. - Jay Miller

2007 Vintage Tasting Notes

From the winery: "this wine comes from a blend of ten different vineyard sites all within the Willamette Valley. Thirty five percent of the fruit comes from our own vineyard. The final blend includes the original Oregon clones of Pommard and Wadensville, along with some of the newer Dijon clones 113,114,115 and 777."

This medium ruby colored Pinot Noir has a nose dominated at the moment with a plethora of exotic spices and herbs. Cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, coriander, green tea, tobacco and gun smoke can all be found mingling with the fruit. The flavors are just as exotic with black cherries and currants overlain with savory dried herbs. Although this is a medium weight wine, it is multi-faceted and has adequate acidity and just enough grip to benefit from moderate aging. Steve Doerner, Winemaker
