MORE INFORMATIONDiStefano, a small Washington State winery, makes value priced red and white wines. DiStefano's Sauvignon Blanc, in their beautiful large shouldered bottles with their trademark Renaissance portrait label, is a crisp, balanced, delcious white, intense enough for fairly strongly flavored dishes, or well paired with cheese and crackers. Their red wines, a Cab, Cab Reserve, and Bordeaux blend called Sogno, are big, rich, earthy wines with lots of Washington State's characteristic big fruit, leather, coffee and chocollate notes, and deep dense tannins, well integrated but best after 3-5 years of cellaring. DiStefano Wines were first introduced in the fall of 1993. The winery, Domaine Whittlesey Mark was established in 1984 as one of the first producers of premium Methode Champenoise wines in the Pacific Northwest. Consistent with the acclaim and reputation of the Whittlesey Mark sparkling wines, the DiStefano wines have received high marks for their quality and distinctive style. The winery's goal is to focus on Fume Blanc (Sauvignon Blanc) and Cabernet Sauvignon exclusively in the still wine category while continuing to produce small quantities of premium sparkling wine. All new releases of sparkling wine and still wine will be bottled under the DiStefano label. Winery personnel includes Mark Newton (founder and winemaker), Robert Field (cellar master and assistant winemaker) and David Holt (marketing and management. |
