Review:
2009 Wine Spectator - 92 points - Bright and sleek, offering pretty blackberry and red plum flavors that stay intense as the finish lingers effortlessly, with chocolate complexity, against refined tannins. Drink now through 2019. 2,750 cases made. - H.S.
Dark and vibrant in color, the 2009 Laurène is a classic expression of our Dundee Hills Pinot Noir. The aromatics are vibrant, and consist of sweet red fruit, cherry, cola nut, and a hint of toast. The mouth weight is a balance between the plush palate feel, soft, well-integrated tannins and a nice mineral lift. The fresh red fruit flavors of cherry and cranberry mix easily with a touch of vanilla and smoke. The finish is long and silky, as one expects from Laurène. - the winery
2008 Vintage Tasting Notes
2008 Tanzer - 93 points - Captivating, highly perfumed aromas of raspberry, pepper, Asian spices, cocoa powder and rose; brighter and more precise than the regular bottling. Then juicy and penetrating in the mouth, with brilliantly fresh raspberry and wild strawberry flavors that stain the palate. Finishes tangy and long, with a whiplash of mineral-accented red fruits and flowers. This one really calls for a decade of aging, even if there's plenty to like now." Josh Raynolds
2008 Wine Spectator - 91 points - Floral, minty overtones add depth to the rich cherry and tobacco flavors in this medium-weight, focused and distinctive wine. The finish lingers appealingly. Drink now through 2018. - H.S.
2007 Vintage Tasting Notes
2007 was a beautiful growing season marked by a stressful harvest but the result was well worth it. Once again, the Laurene is highly regarded among wine professionals.
2006 Vintage Tasting Notes
2006 Wine Advocate - 92 points - The 2006 Pinot Noir Laurene is medium/dark ruby colored with an alluring perfume of pain grille, mineral, spice box, cherry, and black raspberry with some blue notes in the background. It has more depth and concentration than the “cuvee classique” with gobs of sweet, ripe fruit, enough structure to evolve for 3-4 years and a 45-second finish. Drink it from 2012 to 2021.
Domaine Drouhin remains one of the standards against which other Oregon Pinot Noirs must be measured.
The 2006 Laurene recalls the softer, plusher qualities found in the 2004 vintage, but with the slightly more ample body that 2006 brought to all of our wines. On the nose and on the palate, there is a wealth of deep black berries, red fruits and Dundee Hills spice. The finish is very long, and I expect to enjoy the 2006 Laurene
for at least 10 more years! - the winery
