Domaine Serene Pinot Noir Yamhill Cuvee 03
Forbes Magazine named this wine one of the "25 Great American Wines" in Sept 05, and said: "This is what a great American Pinot should be--light as a feather but packed with powerful, aromatic red-fruit flavors. A pure delight, and I prefer it to Domaine Serene's more ponderous Evenstad Reserve at 50% more."
From the winery: "Effusive nose of ripe cherry, crushed raspberry, plums, fresh rosemary, blueberry, slight citrus, vanilla, cocoa and spice. The lively palate shows layers of red raspberry, currant, bing cherry, wild huckleberry, slight caramel and white pepper on the long, bright finish."![]()
MORE INFORMATION
Vintage Notes -- The driest winter in recent history gave way to a moderate spring with good bloom conditions. Excellent set resulted in large clusters and moderate berry size. Crop thinning was performed on three occasions: pre-veraison, color thinning, and wing removal as the final adjustment. Harvest conditions were very good with ample hang time for ripe flavor development and lush flavors.
Vineyard
Blend of Pommard (76%), Wadenswil (5%) and Dijon (19%) clones of Pinot noir sourced primarily from our Evenstad Estate Vineyards (80%) and from the Guadalupe Vineyard (20%) in the Dundee Hills.
