Zenith Vineyard 06 $35.05/$38.95
The St. Innocent Zenith Vineyard Pinot noir 06 says "hey, check me out!" The moSt. open and forward of the new 06 St. . Innocent Pinots, it has huge, expressive aromas of savory sweet bacon and grilled plums. The wine opens up on the palate with ripe red cherry notes and exotic cardamom and clove on the finish. Layered hints of black currant explode throughout, then savory notes reappear. The Zenith Vineyard, formerly O'Connor, is St. Innocent's estate vineyard. A delicious new offering.
Pinot noir 06 $43.16/$47.95
The St. Innocent Pinot noir Justice Vineyard 06, is made from a vineyard whose fruit impresses with its especially expressive sweet and spicy flavors. A silky, creamy mouth feel, also characteristic of the vineyard, enhances the concentrated flavors of berries, smoke, and clove.
The St. Innocent Justice Vineyard Pinot noir 06 has ripe, fleshy wild strawberries flavors that burSt. on the palate, picking up a wave of fat black cherries. Flecks of crushed rose petal and truffled, creamy earth add a nice wild streak. The mouthcoating texture and rich, expressive fruit meld with the delicate nuances, making the 06 Justice the Sophia Lauren of the bunch.
It's straight up sexy.
White Rose Vineyard Pinot noir 06 $43.16/$47.95
Mark Vlossak says: "St.
Innocent White Rose Pinot noir has acquired
a well deserved reputation as our moSt. hedonistic
wine. It is the only wine that I do not focus
on the details of aroma or flavor. Instead,
I enjoy the pleasure, it is drop dead gorgeous."
Shea Vineyard Pinot
The St. Innocent Shea Vineyard Pinot noir 06 impresses with its intense, fruit-driven, flavor-laden, big-bodied nature. The color is a dark, saturated garnet-ruby, and texturally, the wine is fleshy and concentrated. As with the beSt. 2006 Oregon Pinot noirs, this is a succulent, opulent wine, immediately impressive and well worth cellaring.
In keeping with the Shea Vineyard style, the St. Innocent Shea Vineyard Pinot noir 06 is velvety smooth with dense notes of earth, pipe tobacco and fresh ripe blackberries. Supple layers of boysenberry and wild cherry add to the melange of rich flavors. Mark Vlossak consistently produces one of Avalon's favorite Shea Vineyard bottlings.
Winemaker Mark Vlosak says: "This Shea is a dark ruby color. Its nose is layered with dark spices, wild flowers and black fruit aromas with hints of tar and wet earth. You are immediately struck with the intensity of dark sweet fruit and very intense raspberry extract flavors. Texturally this wine is extremely dense, in keeping with the essential nature of '06 Oregon Pinot noirs with loads of sweet, ripe tannins. This is a powerhouse wine dressed in Escada. A soft and fresh acidity carries the bright fruit layers into the finish. I expect it to develop for more than a decade.

Temperance Hill Vineyard (image by Dai Crisp)
Temperance Hill Vineyard Pinot noir 06 $25.16/$31.95
The St. Innocent Winery Temperance Vineyard Pinot noir 06 is an extraordinary value, leading off with aromatics of layered lilac, violet, and raspberry. Flavors come at you in a direct frontal attack - dense layers of berries, red cherries, cassis, and sweet pie spice roll along the palate. Soft juicy raspberry jam mingles with fresh rosemary and summer herbs. The 06 is perfectly ripe; there's a sappy red fruit character that's downright delicious.
This wine speaks volumes about the Temperance Hill site from which it comes, the top block by Pumphouse. For all its succulent full body, the wine retains a bright, refreshing acidity. The ripe 2006 vintage and a dry harveSt. season combined to intensify flavors in the Temperance Hill Pinot noir. While immediately approachable and impressive, good acidity and balance make this a wine to lay down for up to eight years.
Winemaker Mark Vlosak says: "The 2006 St. Innocent Temperance Hill is a bright ruby red. It has lovely ripe fruit aromas of sweet cherries, raspberries, and cassis with sweet spice, lilac, purple flower, and sweet chocolate nuances. The aromas are very bright and the spices invite further inspection. The mouth explodes with layers of concentrated red fruits and lilac with futher spice notes that extend and transform into its lengthy finish. Ripe tannins and beautifully balanced acidity will make it a great match with food and will allow this wine to develop over years."
Villages Cuvee Pinot noir 06 $22.45/$24.95
Lots and lots of red fruit scents like red raspberry, tart red cherry, red currant, and red plum. HInts of soft toast, blackberry, vanilla, and smoke. Sweet, juicy red cherry is the initial impression in the mouth, refreshing and balanced. As the wine opens in the mouth, the midpalate finds intense, bold, darker fruit and barrel toast notes- these darker tones add weight and depth to the otherwise juicy, fruity wine. The tannins are silky, present in perfect balance, seamless and lushly textured. One is left with a sense of balanced, juicy, refreshing Pinot noir.
