Lynn Penner Ash
describes her new Pinot noir:

"Seductive nose of baked cherry pie, allspice and black currants. Broad expression on the palate displays soft tannins and a sweet core of red fruits. Softly textured and opulent with vanilla and Asian spice lingering on the finish."

Lynn Penner Ash has the Midas touch! Great concentration and luscious cherry and blackberry flavors prevail here, with complex notes of incense and nicely integrated oak. Always a customer favorite, the wine is youthfully open for near-term drinking but well-balanced for longer-term cellaring. This is a dazzling Oregon Pinot Noir.

Blended from Palmer Creek, Bella Vida, Shea, Seven Springs, Momtazi, Justice, La Colina, and Bethel Heights vineyard sources, it's Lynn's take on the Willamette Valley's 2005 vintage, and it's a keeper.

Drinking nicely now, it's good for medium term cellaring from 2-7 years.

A luxurious case of both ready to drink and cellar worthy Pinot noir from one of Oregon's outstanding winemakers. Great gift for the discerning winelover.

Dusky Goose Pinot noir 04 $49.45
Made by Lynn Penner Ash for the winery. Full-bodied, yet sumptuously complex, the 2004 Dusky Goose Pinot noir wine has its characteristic candied fruit and dried cherry notes, along with glorious layers of lush black cherries and berries, and hints of dried lavender, dried orange zest, and a high note in both nose and flavor of intensely sweet and concentrated dried fruit. The balance is so good, the wine should cellar well for more than ten years.

John Stevenson of Stevenson Barrie
John Stevenson of Stevenson

Stephenson Barrie is a favorite "Indie" winery with a low profile and fabulous wines. Here's Michael Stephenson's take on the Shea Vineyard in 2004 and it's about the best price we've seen for a wine made from fruit from this top vineyard. And it's excellent.

Stevenson Barrie Shea Vineyard Pinot noir 04 $30
Big black cherry, vanilla, roses, violets and graham in the nose are reiterated in the flavors, adding hints of blackberry, pie spice, and layers of subtle fresh earth and herbs. The finish is long, echoing luscious fruit and spice, with an uplifting acidity and fine tannins, a tiny bit gripping, but settling down immediately after decanting. A steal.

As long as you're on the Stevenson Barrie page, Michael's Freedom Hill 04 and Temperance Hill 04 are also great deals.

Raptor Ridge 2005 Pinot noir Case Pack

Oh how we love that once a year celebration when Raptor Ridge releases their Pinot noirs! Outrageously good, and very limited, we have a small number of these mixed cases of three of their 2005's.

This case pack contains:
6 bottles Raptor Ridge Pinot noir Willamette Valley 05 $30
4 bottles Raptor Ridge Reserve Pinot noir 05 $38
2 bottles Raptor Ridge Shea Vineyard Pinot noir 05 $47

Raptor Ridge Willamette Valley 2005 $30
I just about fell over when I was greeted by the '05 Raptor Ridge Willamette Valley. Aromas of fresh rose petals with lovely red fruit perfume and hints of sandalwood that carry through the wine. The '05 is more red-fruit driven than the previous two vintages, with perfectly ripe red cherry and raspberry flavors. Soft but structured, accessible but well-balanced, this is an outrageously good wine.

Raptor Ridge ’05 Reserve $38
The nose is filled with red fruit crème brulee complemented by rose petal accents. The silky '05 Reserve exhibits the right combination of supple tannins and finesse mingling with lingering red raspberry and seamlessly integrated oak and the finish. So delicious and more nuanced than the 2003 and 2004.

Raptor Ridge Shea '05 $47
If you have to ask...Raptor Ridge + Shea Vineyard + the wonderful 2005 vintage equals a gem for your cellar. It's generous yet elegant, beautifully balanced, with lots of characteristic Shea violets and rose in the nose and flavor. Refined, seductive, refreshing, balanced for cellaring.

The wines above are not available as separate purchases in 750 ml bottles. We do have a small number of 1/2 bottles of two of Raptor Ridge's wines:

Raptor Ridge Pinot noir Reserve 05 375 ml $25.00

Raptor Ridge Shea Vineyard Pinot noir 05 375 ml $30
