Evesham Wood Pinot noir Anden/Seven Springs 01

$15.70 - Case price
(any 12 or more bottles)

Price: $17.45

Evesham Wood Pinot noir Anden/Seven Springs 01: Great sale price. A meaty, rich Pinot, drinking extremely well in 2005 and into 2006. The 2001 version is a little more soft-textured than what we usually see from this site, but the "signature" meaty, earthy and plummy character of the vineyard are all in evidence in the resulting wine. In addition the high glycerine content of the vintage makes for a long rich finish.

Detailed Info, Previous Vintage Notes, Reviews:

From the winery: "No, this is not a new bottling for us, just a new name for a vineyard from which we?ve sourced grapes since 1986, i.e. Seven Springs. Although, we?ve always obtained fruit from the same part of this vineyard, which is in the oldest section planted in 1981, due to the terms of a "parting of ways" between the owners, "our" section lost its right to the Seven Springs name.

Oregon Wine Report says: "Summary: Medium-light scarlet-to-rose red color. Understated aromas of fresh-hewn wood on top of a cherry fruit and honey background. Lithe in the mouth, with tart-on-the-tongue cherry fruitiness swelling into a sweet candy finish. Bright and lively acidity combines with a definite tannin bite to deliver a vigorous glassful.

Comments: Tasty and vibrant, this is a pleasing Pinot. The mid-palate is a little lacking in depth, but the cheerful fruitiness is quite appealing. The grapes come from the vineyard formerly known as Seven Springs.
