Foris Pinot Noir 08
Rose petals are readily apparent on the nose along with aromas of smoked spices and dark cherries. On the lighter side of medium-bodied, yet focused fruit and lively acidity keep it intensely flavored. Dark cherries dominate the flavors on the palate with notes of Asian spice, a hint of smoky oak, and raspberries coming to light on the lingering, mouthwatering finish. Drinks very nicely young, though I would anticipate being well rewarded by mid-term cellaring.
From the winery: "Our style emphasizes forward, elegant fruit due to low vineyard yields and traditional barrel aging without new wood dominance in flavor. The wine exhibits fragrant raspberry, cherry aromas and full fruit flavors with underlying earthy notes on a soft, lush finish. The wine was not fined or filtered."
