Gift - Northwest Dessert Wines
6 bottles

Winery: Avalon Wine

Two bottles each of three highly sought after Oregon Ice and Dessert wines.

The Pacific Northwest is one of the few sources for Ice Wine, and its late harvest and dessert wines are delicious. They make lovely gifts- serve them on special occasions. Capitello's Dolcino is made by Ray Walsh, a New Zealander known for his sparkling and desert wines. Kiona's Ice Wine has been a popular gift and holiday wine for almost 20 years. Kittling Ridge is a boutique Canadian producer.

Capitello Dolcino Desert Wine 375 ml $19.95/$17.95
This is a spectacular dessert wine, rich yet well balanced, with lovely fresh crisp acidity offsetting lush peach and apricot flavors to make a wine that is never cloying, superb with rich triple creme cheeses, fresh fruit, or try with roasted pecans.

Beautiful golden color, while offering aroma's of honey apricots nectarines, an intense floral-perfume. In the mouth, this wine is sweet, round and yet balanced with its acidity and explodes with fruit flavors apricot, peach and honeysuckle and a smooth lingering finish.

Kiona Chenin Blanc Ice Wine 375 ml $26.45/$23.80
Kiona Ice Wine 07 received 93 points from Wine Advocate (Parker) 7/08.
They said:

"The 2007 Ice Wine is a Chenin Blanc-Riesling blend with 20% residual sugar. The aromatics are quite heavenly with notes of peach, tangerine, mango, and kiwi. On the palate the wine is smooth textured, racy, and nicely balanced. It should evolve for quite some time given the acid backbone. It is also a fabulous value in sweet wine."

Wine Spectator 90 points: "Very sweet and rich in texture, offering honey and wildflower aromas and flavors that persist nicely on the unctuous finish. Drink now through 2007. 500 cases made."(HS)

Kittling Ridge Infusion Ice Wine 375 ml $24.95
A blend of Kittling Ridge's Vidal Ice wine with seven year barrel aged brandy, lowering the sweetness and introducing the subtle oak flavors of brandy without overwhelming the delicate ice wine. " It is the color of old gold, with a spiritous, caramel and orange bouqhet and a sweet, soft roundness on the palate." - Tony Aspier, wine writer

Wine Spectator 90 points: "Very sweet and rich in texture, offering honey and wildflower aromas and flavors that persist nicely on the unctuous finish. Drink now through 2007. 500 cases made."(HS)
