Kiona Sangiovese

Wine Press NW says: "This estate Sangiovese from winemaker Scott Williams might remind you of a Chianti Classico Riserva because of its aromas of cigars and spicy bright fruit and rich flavors of black cherries and violets. Beautiful acidity gives this ample food-pairing opportunities, including beef, veal or lasagna.

"Won gold at the Washington State Wine Competition."

From the winery: "Famous as the most important red varietal in Tuscany, Sangiovese is showing great promise in Washington State. Kiona planted approximately five acres in 2000 and has produced two vintages with great successes. These vines are located on Red Mountain in sites that take advantage of elevation and cool evenings to facilitate even ripening and wonderful flavor development.

The resulting wines exhibit fantastic red fruit aromas, medium plus body, great length, long finish, and amazing drinkability. We have tried this wine with a number of dishes and are very pleased by its versatility.
