It's all about the terroir with this exquisite, very limited availability Pinot. The scent of of herbs, mint, bittersweet chocolate and ground coffee, with subtle hints of violets. The flavors are of black berry and black plum with a soft, full mouth feel, unusual and very pleasant herbal notes, licorice and anise, and hints of Chinese five Spice. Tannins are polished and fine grained, beautifully integrated with the balanced acidity. Deep, dark, berry, woodsy, earthy, ageable. Shows what everyone is saying about the Momtazi vineyard is right- it's a remarkable vineyard and a wonderful wonderful wine, polished and superbly well made. Highly recommended.

Winemaking Notes:
Grapes were de-stemmed and cold soaked prior to 92?F fast primary fermentations in stainless steel vats. This was followed with extended maceration before pressing off the skins and putting the wine to barrel. Once in oak, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation and was racked off its lees 3 times before bottling.
