Patricia Green Cellars Pinot Noir "Oregon" 05: Pure essence of Pinot noir aromatics, sweet fruit, great balance and layers and layers of complexity , all in a value priced package. Patty and Jim always go out of their way to create a wine that represents their take of the best of the vintage at a value price with this wine. It's drinkable now but has the acidity and tannins for aging 2-5 years. -Jean
While our passions may lie in finding the nuances that make our vineyard designated Pinots stand out there is something that gives us great pleasure in making this wine as well as we can on year in and year out basis. For some wineries their introductory wine is the cast off lots and barrels that did not work out so well. For us it is probably the wine we spend the most time thinking about and trying to construct.
The base of the wine comes from Bradley Vineyard in the southern part of the state roughly between Roseburg and Reedsport. This 30-year-old vineyard provides a base of structure, acidity and brightness of fruit upon which the rest of the wine is built. The rest of the wine is made up from fruit from Quail Hill Vineyard (Pommard and some Dijon 115), Croft Vineyard (Wadensvil and Pommard), Four Winds Vineyard (Dijon 115) and our Estate Vineyard (Wadensvil).
The range of quality vineyards used, the diversity of clonal material, the lack of new wood (the wine is composed from barrels ranging from 1 to 6 years in age) and the quality of the vintage all combine to make this one pretty and supple bottle of wine. It has great depth of color, sweet red cherry aromatics, good richness and a surprising depth of mouthfeel.
The more you look around the world of Pinot Noir, this is really good wine for the money. The goal we set out with in this wine is to show the vintage and the house style of Pinot. The 2005 vintage is based on great, pure-Pinot aromatics, sweet fruit, great balance and layers of complexity. We looked to bring all these out in this drinkable but decently structured Pinot Noir. 1,905 cases bottled. - the winery

2004 TASTING NOTES
Patty and her crew spend more time and energy on this wine, their flagship, introduction to PGC, wine. It has great depth of color, sweet red cherry aromatics, good richness and depth of mouthfeel and a spicy finish.
Oddly enough, with all of the wines we are producing this one may have become the flagship wine. While we believe fervently in Pinot Noirs ability to produce wines that are inherently tied to the land that the grapes were grown in we also believe in producing an excellent village style Pinot Noir that shows off the sexiness of the grape and provides an introduction to the winemaking style we employ all at the lowest price we can do without completely turning the keys over to the bankers!
The base of the wine comes from Bradley Vineyard in the southern part of the state roughly between Roseburg and Reedsport. This 30-year-old vineyard provides a base of structure, acidity and brightness of fruit upon which the rest of the wine is built. The rest of the wine is made up from fruit from Quail Hill Vineyard (Pommard), Hawks View Vineyard (multiple clones), Arbre Vert (Dijon 115), Anden (Dijon 114 and 115) and just a touch of Croft Vineyard (Wadensvil) and our Estate Vineyard (Pommard). The range of quality vineyards used, the diversity of clonal material, the judicious use of new wood (the wine is only 8% new oak) and the quality of the vintage all combine to make this one pretty jazzy bottle of wine. It has great depth of color, sweet red cherry aromatics, good richness and depth of mouthfeel and a spicy finish. In short this is really good wine for the money. The goal we set out with in this wine is to show the vintage and the house style of Pinot. The 2004 vintage is based on wonderfully floral aromatics, purity of red fruit and spicy finishes. We looked to bring all these out in this eminently drinkable yet decently structured Pinot Noir.

The base of the wine comes from Bradley Vineyard in the southern part of the state roughly between Roseburg and Reedsport. The rest of the wine is made up from fruit from Quail Hill Vineyard (Dijon Clone 115), and our Estate Vineyard (some Pommard and Wadensvil). It has great depth of color, sweet red cherry aromatics, good richness and depth of mouthfeel and a spicy finish. In short this is really good wine for the money. Is at as good as the other bottlings? No, but that does not in any way take away from the everyday sort of drinking pleasure this wine provides. In 2002 we made nearly 2,500 cases of this and it sold by February and received a 90 and a Best Buy from The Wine Spectator."
This is the wine Patty and Jim take the most energy over- they are determined to represent "Oregon" Pinot noir with this wine, which is made in enough quantity that they can sell it across the country. Very carefully crafted, a fresh, fairly complex, classic Pinot, very true to the varietal's nature.2002 tasting notes: The base of the wine comes from the Bradley Vineyard in the southern part of the state between Roseberg and Reedsport.
