With my over-the-top reaction to the Johan Three Barrel 08, the Nils got somewhat overlooked. It deserves better - Nils Reserve 08 is a beautiful wine that shares many of the best traits of the Three Barrel. Hugely complex and attractive aromas, with fresh blackberry and dark cherry providing fruit oomph. Superb balance and low alcohol will allow this to age for over a decade. - Marcus

Burghound - Here the nose is similar to that of its sibling but with more spice elements that cinnamon and sandalwood. The delicious and impressively rich flavors are blessed with an abundance f dry extract that coast the mouth and buffers the moderately firm tannins on the long, serious and highly complex finish. This striking effort is well worth considering.

Bright ruby. Black raspberry, cherry-cola and spicecake aromas show very good clarity and a suave hint of fresh rose. Bright and incisive on the palate, offering tangy red and dark berry flavors and a late note of blood orange. Finishes spicy, energetic and focused. This lithe, sexy pinot clocks in at 12.8% alcohol. - Josh Raynolds

In line with the goals of Johan Vineyards, this Pinot Noir is made in a classic style, with a focus on balance, complexity and elegance. It clearly represents the characters and nuances of Johan Vineyards as well as the 2008 growing-season.
