Three Rivers Winery

Three Rivers Winery

Three Rivers Winery is different from any other winery in the Walla Walla area, where it is located. It features a very "Napaesque" vaulted ceiled tasting room with a huge fireplace, snuggly leather sofas, and large boutique retail shopping area. There's a three hole golf course outside. While at most Walla Walla wineries, the owner or family members pause from work to pour you a taste, Three Rivers Winery has a huge tasting bar with professional servers to pour wine and answer questions. There's a large deck overlooking the vineyards and countryside for picnicking and watching the golfers. The winery has become a popular place for business meetings and weddings.

Three Rivers Winery is named for the three rivers in the two appellations where its vineyard sources are located- the Columbia, Snake, and Walla Walla rivers. ("walla walla" means "many rivers" in the native Indian tongue.) The winery was founded in 1998 and is located between Walla Walla and Lowden along Hwy 12.

About the Winemaker

From the winery:

Holly Turner brings nearly a decade of food and wine experience to her role as Three Rivers' winemaker. Prior to joining the winery in June 2000, she received an unparalleled education in the art and science of winemaking through positions at several acclaimed wineries, including Chateau Ste. Michelle's River Ridge Winery, Columbia Crest, Chateau Ste. Michelle Grandview, and Bodega la Rural winery in Mendoza, Argentina.

She holds a bachelor's degree in biology from Western Oregon State College and has completed extended coursework at U.C. Davis in winemaking and wine grape production.

Since entering the wine industry, Holly has focused on making premium wine from grapes grown in the Columbia Valley. Over time she has forged lasting relationships with growers throughout the region, enabling her source some of the best grapes grown in the appellation.

As winemaker, Holly oversees every aspect of Three Rivers' wine production, from sourcing grapes to bottling.
