Tyrus Evan Claret Ciel du Cheval Vineyard 07
Firm, focused and vibrant, showing cherry, red currant, tobacco and mineral flavors, with a touch of espresso hovering over the long, expressive finish. The tannins have presence, but they’re not overwhelming. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Best from 2013 through 2019. - H.S.
50% Cabernet Sauvignon 25% Merlot, 20% Petit Verdot, 5% Cabernet Franc, all from Washington's Ciel du Cheval Vineyard.
2002 Vintage Tasting Notes
2002 Tanzer - A project of Oregon-based Ken Wright; about two-thirds cabernet sauvignon and one-third merlot. Medium ruby-red, vibrant aromas of red currant, tobacco, chocolate, game and subtle oak. Sweet, dense, concentrated and pliant, with flavors enlivened by firm acids. Offers an intriguing saline nuance and very good innerpalate energy. Brisk finish features firm but sweet tannins.
2001 Vintage Tasting Notes
2001 Tanzer - A dark wine, blended from Walla Walla grapes, a tad closed but opening with aeration to show blue and black fruit flavors, spicy notes of anise, cinnamon, and pepper, and finishing with a lovely long complex dance in the mouth. Have with grilled lamb, with a side of grilled Walla Walla onions!
