Willamette Valley Vineyards is the largest
winery in Oregon, WVV offers
a huge range of wines from several different wineries in categories from
basic table wine to exceptional single vineyard wines. The labels Griffin
Creek, Tualatin Vineyards, and Willamette Valley Vineyards are
all part of WVV.
The winery has steadily upgraded the quality of its
offerings over the last few years. With the hiring of a new winemaker in
1997, Joe Dobbes, the winery expanded its selection of higher end wines.
The winery's offerings now include Griffin Creek Viognier, a WVV late harvest
Viognier, and a sparkling "Frizzante" early Muscat.
WVV's selection of single vineyard Pinot Noirs has
grown and they now offer a highly regarded "Karina Vineyard" Pinot
Noir, from grapes sourced from Alpine Vineyards.
The winery and tasting facility sit atop Ilahee Hill
just south of Salem, Oregon. The surrounding 50 acre estate vineyards are
planted to select clones of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Riesling.
In addition to its estate vineyards,
its Tualatin holdings, and its Griffin Creek wines, Willamette Valley Vineyards
purchases fruit from many additional sites throughout Oregon.
