Snap Up the Oregon Pinot Deals! When prices are too good to pass up, there's only one thing to do: buy. Whether you're looking for more Tuesday night Pinots, or want to keep your in-laws from raiding your high-end stash during the family reunion, these under $20 Oregon Pinots are a rock solid investment. 720 Cellars $17.95 in any 12 bottle order
From a top-secret location five miles west of our store comes the value dynamo 720 Cellars. Organically grown Croft Vineyard 2008 Pinot for under $20?! Yes, please! Deep aromas lead to a complex palate of dark cherry, currant and spicy plum, with shadings of coffee and earth on the finish. I found myself writing the tasting note as if it were a $30+ Pinot -- this kept evolving and is so far from a simple sipper. I highly recommend it. -Marcus Grochau Cellars
$14.99 in any 12 bottle order The GC Commuter Pinot has turned out to be one of the hottest value wines in Oregon. It barely leaves the Portland metro area, but you can always get it from us! The first 2010 Pinot is a harbinger of good things to come -- juicy, super-fresh cherry and raspberry fruit gives you easy drinking pleasure. The creamy finish is icing. This will disappear fast... - Marcus Bruno
$14.35 in any 12 bottle order The first Bruno Pinot made by Evesham's new owner, Erin Nuccio (who's Haden Fig wines have become customer favorites), will also be the last Bruno Pinot. Boy did he finish strongly, offering a soft, red fruit melange of cherry, strawberry, and raspberry. Bruno Pinots always put on a little weight in the bottle, so by the time the weather cools off enough to ship, this will be even better. - Marcus Belle Pente $17.95 in any 12 bottle order The followup to New York Times' #1 2008 Oregon Pinot. Red fruit and a hint of rose petals fill the nose. Plush raspberry and red cherry flavors are enhanced by the faintest touch of sandalwood incense. Smooth rich texture and tannins that grip just enough to balance the sweet fruit. - Jean Lots of high toned red fruit mingles with orange peel, incense, and fresh cut hay on the nose. Richly textured red berries sit lushly on your palate, with hints of cocoa, cream, and cherry skin on the finish. - Marcus Brigadoon "Lylee"
$17.05 in any 12 bottle order The Oregon 09 Pinots are drinking beautifully right out of the gate and the Brigadoon Lylee is no exception. The bright fruit up front immediately speaks Pinot noir in this delicious third vintage from winemaker Matt Shown. A slight Christmas spice with smooth caramel on the mid palate ramps into a pleasantly sharp cherry finish. If this is Brigadoon's everyday Pinot, I can't wait to taste the 09 Reserve. - Andy Lemelson
$16.16 in any 12 bottle order The new 2009 vintage of the Lemelson Six Vineyard Pinot noir is yet again one of the best priced Pinots in Oregon. Round, easy drinking, and very rich, grab it for grilled lamb, kebabs, salmon, Oregon blue cheese - everyone will like it. Matello
$17.95 in any 12 bottle order The first 2009 Pinot from Marcus Goodfellow, one of Oregon's most dependable winemakers. Marcus created a pure and balanced 2009 Pinot with acidity and complexity to stand out from the pack. Highly recommended. - Marcus
$17.95 in any 12 bottle order A rich and fresh cherry bouquet leads into so much goodness. Raspberries and cherries, spice box, and a satin mouthfeel make this a super value. Illahe is on a roll, utilizing fantastic grapes from owner/grower Lowell Ford. Westrey
$17.95 in any 12 bottle order The most recent success from Westrey. Red fruit - mostly crushed raspberry and wild mountain strawberry - subtle smoke, and white flowers. The WV 09 melds forward fruit with a bright and lively character, making a great intro to Oregon's 2009 vintage. - Marcus
$17.05 in any 12 bottle order To describe the Lundeen Pinot noir 09 - in a word, balance. Just when you think the fruit might be too intense, the needle comes back up to center. The spice, the minerality, the smooth tannins, the uplifting finish - Michael manages intensity and balance to make a terrific Pinot at a killer price. - Jean
UNDER $25 OREGON PINOT NOIRS Cameron
$21.55 in any 12 bottle order HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BY JEAN The 2009 vintage is forward and full, and Cameron's Dundee Hills Pinot fits right in. Masterful winemaker John Paul made a wine both rich and elegant. Creamy sweet red raspberry and red currant fruit is exquisitely balanced by fresh acidity and John Paul's trademark undercurrent of fresh turned earth and crushed minerals. Fresh thyme, Black Cap raspberries and creme brulee intensify the lengthy finish. A highlight of the vintage and a must-have if you love Pinot. - Jean Laura Volkman Vineyards
$22.45 in any 12 bottle order HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BY JEAN This is the richest and plushest of Laura's last three vintages of St. James. She took advantage of the riper 2009 vintage to make a balanced wine with big, upfront juiciness and smooth tannins. The St. James has Laura's trademark aroma of incense, roses, and spice. It's a bigger style than her usual Pinot -- almost California big -- and with plenty of acid to lift and round out the succulent blackberry, raspberry and cherry fruit flavors. - Jean Wine Spectator 92 Points
Longplay $21.55 in any 12 bottle order Wine Spectator - "Supple, generous and immensely appealing for its ripe blueberry, plum and spice flavors, hinting at mineral as the finish lingers impressively. Drink now through 2019." H.S. Wine Spectator 93 Points Rex Hill $23.36 in any 12 bottle order Wine Spectator - "Focused, satiny and elegant, with a powerful thrust behind the pure currant and boysenberry flavors, shaded with touches of talcum and cream as the finish expands. Drink now through 2019." H.S. Wine Spectator 92 Points
Zenith Vineyard $22.45 in any 12 bottle order Made by St. Innocent winemaker Zenith Vineyard surrounds the new St. Innocent winery -- the Zenith label is the project of co-owners Tim and Kari Ramey. Wine Spectator - Lithe, with a welcome sense of transparency to the cherry, caramel and sandalwood flavors, mingling gracefully on the long, appealing finish. Best from 2013 through 2019. - H.S.
Wine Spectator 91 Points Bergstrom "Old Stones" Pinot noir 09 $22.45 in any 12 bottle order This is better than the 2008. Okay, I had to get that out of the way and I suppose I should elaborate on why. I think of Bergstrom's Willamette Valley (Old Stones) as a wine to pop (you have to use a cork screw, since they did away with the screw top), pour, then pour some more. You can't beat the immediate gratification you get from the 09. It's strong, red-fruited persona charges out of the glass with ripe cherries, which are met by a sweet blackberry boost near the end. A little accent of orange, baking spice and flowers lift the lengthy finish. Done solely in large oak cask (not regular barrels) to preserve the purity - nice call Josh. - Marcus Wine Spectator - Firm and a bit chewy, focusing its tarry black cherry and tobacco flavors into a sharp beam that pushes through the tannins and lets the flavors emerge unscathed. Best from 2013 through 2019. - H.S. We're available by phone at 541-752-7418 Store Hours
